Finally, it looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers' 2025-26 roster is taking shape. James Harden got his money in a move that might come back to haunt this team sooner rather than later, and Peyton Watson is officially in The Land.
Adding Watson might feel like a letdown after missing out on LeBron James, but the Cavs just got the best player who was still available, and that's not a minor thing. If anything, it shows that the front office is still trying to improve the team.
However, looking back on the offseason, we can't help but feel that LeBron James just wasted everybody's time. He made it all about himself, and all of these moves could've been done at least a month ago.
LeBron James' narcissism created unnecessary stress in Cleveland
James always does the same thing. He marches to the beat of his own drum, which is something everyone can respect, but why drag out the decision so much, have everyone hit pause on free agency, and then make an announcement when you could just sign a deal like everyone else?
Of course, the fact that James is still the biggest name in free agency at this point in his career is a testament to his greatness, but it feels like he never learned from his mistakes. These free-agency sagas are only fuel to his haters, and it's hard to stand up for him at times.
To add insult to injury, he chose to sign with a team he had no ties to whatsoever. His haters are just salivating at the thought of using his picture on a Philadelphia 76ers jersey as a meme to talk about someone washed, just like they do with Celtics Shaq or Magic Patrick Ewing.
Instead of going back home to make one final championship run with the fan base that stood by him and forgave him after his initial departure, he chose to join yet another superteam. He'll live in New York City, so he clearly had it all figured out long before he put pen to paper. So, again, why waste everyone's time?
At least, the Cavs managed to pull off a big move and not end up empty-handed. Missing out on James, despite being the only team to get a face-to-face meeting with him, was humiliating enough to make that happen.
There are many reasons to idolize James and love him unconditionally if you're a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. That said, it's hard not to understand his critics when you consider how he's dealt with some of his decisions.
