In the latest KJG roundtable, we discussed how the Cleveland Cavaliers did at the NBA trade deadline, 2020 All-Star Weekend and more.
At the All-Star break, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a 14-40 record on the year, and they are probably a ways away from being a postseason contender in the Eastern Conference.
Heading into Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland had lost 12 straight home games, which included the worst home loss in franchise history to the LA Clippers on Sunday, of which our own Corey Casey hit on.
Fortunately, though, the Cavs earned a much-needed 127-105 victory against the Hawks heading into the break, which was nice to see for their trade deadline acquisition, in Andre Drummond, who was a key focus of our latest KJG roundtable. In that one, Cleveland dominated for most of the game, as the likes of Drummond, Tristan Thompson and Larry Nance Jr. all had double-doubles.
Thompson, who had 27 points, even was three-of-three from three-point range, too, as indicated by ESPN, and that was quite a sight in itself (but please don’t get ahead of yourself, TT).
The player of the game I believe, though, was Nance.
Jr. had a phenomenal outing as he showed his full array as a scorer with a career-high with 23 points on eight-of-11 shooting, and did a great job initiating offense with productive hand-offs, too, while also having 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Along with that, in his first W as a Cav, Drummond continued to feast inside as he did for so long as a Detroit Piston, as Dre had 14 points and 15 rebounds in only 22 minutes, and had two blocks as well.
While on the subject of Drummond, in this latest KJG roundtable, he again was a key topic of conversation and/or how successful the deadline was for Cleveland, and the team discussed Dre as a potential long-term fit alongside pieces such as Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Cedi Osman and perhaps if this experiment works out, Kevin Love.
Additionally, with the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, the squad touched on their biggest All-Star snubs and gave their takes as far as if any young Cavs could be All-Stars down the road.
Alrighty, so let’s get started then.
