The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Andre Drummond in a trade with the Detroit Pistons last week. We’ll get into a few lineups Cleveland should use involving the big man.

After being dealt by the Detroit Pistons to the Cleveland Cavaliers near the 2020 NBA trade deadline, two-time NBA All-Star Andre Drummond made his debut with the Wine and Gold on Sunday against the LA Clippers at home in the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Cleveland suffered their worst home loss in franchise history, as our own Corey Casey touched on, with an abysmal score of 133-92. Despite the disappointment from the scoreboard, Drummond had a fairly successful game for himself.

He registered 19 points, 14 rebounds and three assists, as indicated by ESPN, and it was clear that Drummond was definitely trying to make himself known in his new city.

With the trade for a new center, people were waiting for general manager Koby Altman to trade Tristan Thompson or Kevin Love, or a combination of the two at the deadline. However, both of the Cavalier big men were not dealt and will remain in Cleveland for the remainder of the year it seems.

Granted, 92.3 The Fan’s James Rapien reported that contending teams are hoping that Thompson, who is on an expiring deal, will eventually seek a buyout by the Cavaliers, but Thompson has not expressed an interest to be bought out at this point. That’s also not something players represented by Rich Paul and Klutch Sports Group have historically done.

Anyway, with Drummond in town, the Cavs are going to have some interesting decisions to make when it comes to their lineups. As of now, Drummond ranks first overall in the NBA in rebounding, third overall in steals and eighth in blocks, according to Basketball Reference.

The new center could be an instrumental piece moving forward for the Cavaliers.

Throughout this article I would like to examine three lineups the Cavaliers could use with Drummond, and how those lineups could impact the team.
