Team #3: Toronto Raptors

This time it’s an Eastern Conference team that should be picking up the phone and asking for RJ. After losing DeMarre Carroll and PJ Tucker the last two seasons, the Raptors are looking quite thin at the small forward position. Just like in Washington, all of their scoring and star power is in the backcourt.

CJ Miles was their offseason acquisition to fill the role that Tucker played. This is where Jefferson could thrive. He could backup Miles and help lead a bench that was extremely volatile at times last season. Jefferson, back in his 2007-2008 season, averaged over 22 points per game, and even while aging, he still possesses a type of sting and grit that frightens opponents.

The Raptors have a good team, and in the Eastern Conference, they will easily go the playoffs. But, in order to beat the Cavs, you need to be deep and gritty. Although Jefferson wouldn’t make them true contenders, he would certainly bring a new enthusiasm to a relatively young ball team.

Possible trade: Richard Jefferson for an unconditional 2018 first-round pick
