Two weeks ago, LeBron James broke the hearts of Cleveland Cavaliers fans everywhere (yet again) when news broke that he'd be signing with the Sixers in free agency. One of his good friends and fellow member of the Cavs' 2016 championship team is trying to join him, too. As Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported on Friday, Kevin Love is wondering if there's a spot for him in Philadelphia.
Love's agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, has been in touch with the Philadelphia 76ers' front office since James picked Philadelphia, sources told ESPN.
As McMenamin added, Love's interest in joining the Sixers doesn't mean that it will happen because of their full roster. They'd have to make a move to add the 38-year-old, and the front office may not be all that interested in doing so.
If Love does end up in Philadelphia, though, it'd be another gut punch for Cleveland, even more so if the Sixers are the last team standing next June.

Love spent last season in Utah, where he averaged 6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, shooting 39.7% from the field and 37.3% from three in 16.6 minutes across 37 games. While he'd give Philadelphia the added frontcourt depth it could use, he wouldn't play a large role, except in games against the Cavaliers, where he'd turn back the clock and average 20 points.
In all seriousness, Love's desire to team up again with LeBron is understandable, even more so because it'd give him a chance to go after another championship, too, before he retires. That wouldn't happen if he re-signed with the Jazz. McMenamin noted that Love has a "strong relationship" with Will Hardy, but like Philly, Utah's roster is full.
The Jazz should be a lot better than they were last season, but they're still a little ways off from being considered a contender, though they're certainly headed in the right direction.
Love is waiting to see whether the next direction in his career will lead to his return to the Eastern Conference after a brief hiatus. Like the rest of us, he had to wait to see where LeBron ended up, and you can bet that if he signed with the Cavaliers, Love would be eyeing a return to Cleveland.
Part of the band could be getting back together, just not in the way that the Cavaliers would've preferred.
