2 goals for Cavs’ Robin Lopez in the 2022-23 season

Goal #2: Help the younger guys as a vet mentor
The second goal, and you could probably flip-flop the two, is for Lopez to help as a meaningful mentor for the younger guys.
Whereever he’s been in the league, and the guy has been well-travelled, as we mentioned, Lopez has always been an exemplary teammate. He’ll bring levity behind the scenes for the team, on the bench and just put smiles on faces within the club.
With him set to enter Year 15 of his career, and based on last season, when he still seemed to be the token jolly vet for the Magic, Lopez I’m sure will be focused on helping Allen, Mobley and/or others, such as two-way guy Isaiah Mobley, get better.
I again still think Lopez can aid the Cavaliers in some matchups, as an interior presence, and to some extent, as a reserve rim protector and rebounder.
However, generally speaking, it’d still be meaningful for Lopez to be an additional mentorship presence and some extent, locker room leader that does have postseason experience, too, to the group in 2022-23. He could help Mobley in his defense of more physical bigs, for example, and with Lopez being an adept post big, Allen could seemingly learn some tools of the trade from Lopez offensively in furthering Allen’s growth there.
Regardless, Lopez will be a guy that the team will love to have within the locker room, and he looks to have the makings of a fan favorite, based on his interactions within his teams, fans and various mascots.
