We’re a bit over two weeks away from the 2022 NBA Draft, which will commence on June 23, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are first set to pick at #14 overall.

It was slightly disappointing that the Cavaliers didn’t end up making the postseason, despite them having such a significant turnaround during this now-past season, in doubling their win total from 22 to 44. On a positive note, the Cavs did retain their first-round pick from them putting up a lottery protection in the first-rounder they included as part of the Caris LeVert with the Indiana Pacers, and their first-rounder has the same protection next year.

The likes of Malaki Branham, Ochai Agbaji, Tari Eason, TyTy Washington Jr., Johnny Davis and Jeremy Sochan, among others could seemingly be potential targets for the Cavaliers there, should they keep that player.

When it comes to the second round, the Cavaliers have the #39 and #56 selections as well, via the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat (the latter pick was a piece involved in the LeVert trade).

It would seem that the Cavs could go a number of different directions with that #39 pick, should they take and keep that selection, with playmakers such as Andrew Nembhard and, a player I’m a big fan of, in Alondes Williams, there. If the Cavs go with a player that could be a meaningful shot creation presence or say a combo guard in the first round, I could foresee them going with a combo forward or wing that could be a shooting lift at #39, from there.

Another scoring presence for the second round, or perhaps from trading up into the first round again could be Bryce McGowens, or maybe David Roddy as a forward playmaker/driver could be an interesting prospect to target in Round 2. Christian Braun could seemingly be a wing shooter/situational driver to keep in mind, too.

Regarding another potential shooter to target in the second round, though, Jake LaRavia of Wake Forest could be a sensible player for the Cavaliers to consider as well.

LaRavia’s skill set could help the Cavs, who would be in the right to potentially consider him in the second round.

LaRavia was a teammate of the aforementioned Alondes Williams this past season at Wake Forest, and similarly to Williams, LaRavia was another transfer to the Demon Deacons in 2021-22.
