The Cleveland Cavaliers missing out on the postseason thanks to a late-season slide was not ideal this go-round, even after a successful season, relative to expectations coming into the year.

On the plus side, the Cavaliers do still have a first-round selection in the 2022 NBA Draft, as they had a lottery protection on their first in the Caris LeVert trade with the Indiana Pacers, and the same goes for next season.

As for that #14 pick in the upcoming draft, set to commence on June 23, I’d think the likes of Tari Eason, Ochai Agbaji, Dyson Daniels, TyTy Washington Jr. and Jalen Williams, a draft riser, could all be possible selections. Diddo for Johnny Davis, if he’s on the board.

When it comes to the second round, though, while Cleveland could likely reportedly go with a draft-and-stash prospect at their #56 selection, should they use that pick. If the Cavaliers end up using their #39 selection in the early second round and don’t trade that selection, if the Cavs go wing in the first round, I’d imagine they could go with a playmaking presence or another possible shot creation-type guy to bring in from there.

Players such as Andrew Nembhard and Bryce McGowens have been rumored possible targets, and McGowens is a player I’d definitely be on-board with the Cavaliers taking for on-ball abilities, if he’s there.

Another guy that I’d personally be a fan of Cleveland targeting with that #39 selection in the 2022 NBA Draft is Alondes Williams, who could potentially establish himself as a multi-faceted contributor if given the opportunities.

Williams is an intriguing second-round target for the Cavs in the upcoming NBA Draft.

First, we’ll take a look at some background and his collegiate path to get to this point.
