3 teams that could trade for Collin Sexton: New York Knicks

The New York Knicks revamped their backcourt this past offseason, bringing in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier. Unfortunately, the pairing really struggled; Walker’s knees couldn’t hold up under the expectations of a Tom Thibodeau team, and Fournier was essentially just a long-range bomber who gave it all back on the other end. They will be looking for new solutions this summer.

Never afraid to swing for the fences, Collin Sexton could be an option for the Knicks to consider. They have decent size in their young core, with Cam Reddish, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. Sexton could give them instant dribble penetration and shotmaking, able to play the 1 alongside a wing in Barrett who can handle, or slide to the 2 with Quickley.

The Knicks could send back some salary to give them flexibility; would the Cavs like to use Walker in a more sparing role as a veteran backup to Darius Garland? Would Nerlens Noel be too expensive as a backup 5 to Jarrett Allen? Could they even make an upside play for a guy like Miles McBride or Reddish?

Sexton doesn’t fit seamlessly on the Knicks, and they will likely go for a pure point guard first in free agency. Yet they do have some point guards on the roster, and having a pure scorer like Sexton could give them offensive verve they didn’t have last year.
