Three blockbuster Collin Sexton trade scenarios for the Cavs
Three Blockbuster Collin Sexton Trades: 1. Philadelphia 76ers
Daryl Morey has famously been asking for a ridiculously high return price for Ben Simmons, attempting to reach deals including Damian Lillard or James Harden. However, if the drama surrounding Simmons and the 76ers staff isn’t resolved by the trade deadline on February 10, they may just have to lower the asking price to get value this season to appease Joel Embiid’s potentially limited window.
The Cavaliers may be able to answer that call with veteran forward Kevin Love, who is having his best season since the departure of LeBron James in 2018. Philadelphia would also receive Colline Sexton who could make a comeback by playoff time; however, this is unlikely.
The Cavaliers would also likely have to give up numerous picks to get this trade done. Two or three first-round picks with a light top 3 protection as well as two second-round picks might be able to convince Daryl Morey to agree to a Simmons trade.
Ben Simmons would add a defensive boost to the Cavaliers roster, especially on the perimeter, giving the Cavs more ability to play a more two-way style of basketball. This will also clear up a roster position for Cleveland to add another player through free agency to give a little more offensive firepower off the bench.
This move is a bit risky for the Cavaliers due to the mystery that surrounds Simmons and his mental state following his collapse in the 2021 playoff series against the Hawks. Notoriously, Simmons passed up an open shot in close in favor of passing to a teammate who did not have an open shot.
However, the main issue with this trade is Ben Simmons’ jump shot, or lack thereof. This trade will severely limit the spacing that players like Allen and Mobley will get in the post.
