Big Question #3: Can the Cavaliers’ win streak continue?

“Yes” is the simplest response, and quite honestly why not? They’ve certainly surprised many with this hot start including myself. I thought the inexperience and youth of the team would still be a problem for the club when it came to communicating and being able to play a more complete game. This team in the past, especially a year ago, couldn’t figure out how to close games out for the win. In the first two games this season they lost because they couldn’t hold a lead or stay with their opponent through all four quarters.

In the last two games, the Wine and Gold have only given up 15 and 17 points in the 4th quarter. That’s a very nice early-season development and could be one key to their success moving forward. Defense wins games and the team certainly seemed to get that idea in the last two battles.

Both the Lakers and Suns have struggled too out of the gate this season. The Lakers just lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Lakers star Lebron James has been sidelined from an injury. The Suns haven’t fared much better getting out of the gate at 1-3. The Lakers still have their other stars available, but the Cavs are also on that hot streak.

I look for the Wine and Gold to keep attacking these opponents. They got to the foul line the other night against the Clippers 27 times. That’s always a good sign when you are attacking the rim. And then having rim protectors like Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are helpful on the defensive side of the ball.
