Cavs: Would a team of Cavaliers alumni win the title? Frontcourt alumni

LeBron James is clearly the captain of our Cavs Alumni squad, and he has continued to play at a high level into his late 30s with the Los Angeles Lakers. He played briefly on the Lakers with Danny Green, who won titles with the Lakers, Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs (and is now in Philadelphia). Way before those titles, Green began his career with the Cavs after they took him with the 46th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. They waived Green just prior to his second season. Whoops.

Jae Crowder started on the Phoenix Suns last year, a team that made the NBA Finals and knocked off LeBron’s Lakers in the process. It was his second-straight season in the Finals, having reached them the year before on the Miami Heat team that lost to LeBron and the Lakers. The connections are endless.

Wayne Ellington is a sharpshooter on the wing, while David Nwaba is a sound defensive wing without much offensive impact. Rodney Hood has had flashes, but injuries have sapped him of much of what he was. Taurean Prince had a cup of tea last season with the Cavs, but he isn’t in contention for a spot on a roster like this.

The big man group is a collection of hard-working, solid players, with no elite talents. Larry Nance Jr. became a fan favorite and only just left a month ago in a trade to Portland. He could close for this group at center. Andre Drummond and JaVale McGee both started on the Cavs last season before landing with different teams, and both have changed teams yet again since. Tristan Thompson will absolutely have a spot saved for him after all of the hard-fought rebounds and hustle plays during the run of contention.
