Cavs: Would a team of Cavaliers alumni win the title? Backcourt alumni

The centerpiece of a backcourt built from Cavaliers alumni would be Kyrie Irving. Setting aside the annual cause he takes up to champion, when Irving does play he is still a brilliant isolation scorer and finisher, and his defense is underrated. No other guard comes close to matching his impact.

Jordan Clarkson had a rough time while on the Cavs but has blossomed with the Utah Jazz as a microwave scorer off the bench. Derrick Rose has reestablished his career after some tough years in the middle, and he was the best player for the New York Knicks in their playoff series this past season.

Another lock to make such a roster is Seth Curry. Back in 2013-14 when he was first trying to catch on in the league the Cavs signed him to a 10-day contract, and he played one game, hitting his only 3-point attempt in nine minutes. Now his elite shooting is recognized for the weapon it is, and he hit 126 3-pointers last season for the 76ers.

A few other players would be in the mix for a roster spot. George Hill played 37 games for the Cavs spanning the end of one season and the start of another in 2018 before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Kevin Porter Jr. is on the rise after the Cavs dumped him a year ago. Cameron Payne has established himself as a reliable backup point guard with the Phoenix Suns. Alec Burks plays on the Knicks with Rose and can generate offense at a reasonable clip, even if he is limited in other areas.
