Cavs: Windler hasn’t seen the floor much in preseason so far

It was odd to see Windler not receive any playing time versus Atlanta on Wednesday, as heading into the regular season, Windler could help the Cavs from a rotational shooting perspective.

It didn’t play out nearly enough for him to make an impact game-to-game, as he connected on only 33.8 percent of his three-point looks in 16.5 minutes per game. But Windler did show flashes last season, and he did hit 40.6 percent of his three-point attempts in a four-year collegiate career at Belmont.

Anyway, while I do like the aforementioned Stevens as a versatile defender, and he can provide some on-ball rim pressure, I’d think at least in preseason, Windler should get reps at the 3, or some as a rotational 2.

If the Cavs want him to make a difference for them this season, which I believe he can, and he could play with Stevens in stretches, anyhow, it’s evident that in the last three preseason games, Windler needs chances to get into a rhythm.

He had 12 minutes of play in that first preseason game, but from here, they need to get him at least some rotational time, as with his shooting potential, and off-movement feel/abilities, he could give the Cavs a bench spark from three. That’d aid Collin Sexton, Evan Mobley, Lauri Markkanen and others.

If the reps don’t come for Windler in those upcoming games, even with it being preseason, that’d be disappointing from Bickerstaff and company.
