Point Guard. Toronto Raptors. Jalen Suggs. 4. player. 81.

The Toronto Raptors are likely moving on from Kyle Lowry this offseason, which opens up a hole in the backcourt alongside the versatile Fred VanVleet. Enter Jalen Suggs, an elite competitor who can run the point for the Raptors and become the next impact guard for this team.

Suggs has the power and strength to fit right into Toronto’s aspirations to field five plus defenders in their starting lineup. He competes on every play, doing the little things to help his team win. He has terrific athleticism and can stay with anyone on the perimeter.

Offense is where the Raptors would bank on upside, and Suggs brings that to the table as well. He can throw all of the passes, hitting cutters, pocket passes to the big in pick-and-roll, cross-court passes to shooters on the wing or in the corners. His shot is good, not great, but his ability to get to the rim and finish puts pressure on the defense and opens up passing lanes.

Suggs isn’t a perfect player, with that so-so shot and a tendency to get too ambitious with his pass attempts. Most draft boards have him outside of the top three, as his ceiling might not be future MVP candidate but rather solid All-Star. That’s plenty fine for a ceiling, and he would fit perfectly with the Raptors’ roster and identity.

If not him: Scottie Barnes
