A wing free agent signing and/or Cavs draft pick via trade would make Windler expendable

Windler’s only shot 33.8 percent from three in his 31 games active with Cleveland so far, and the injuries have been the issue, coincided with that. But there again has been flashes of deep range, and Windler hit 40.6 percent from three in his four-year collegiate career at Belmont, where he often demonstrated movement shooting prowess, and intriguing pull-up shooting potential, too.

Albeit with the likes of Isaac Okoro, another possible wing pick in the fold, if the Cavs were to acquire another draft pick via trade such as Moses Moody or Franz Wagner, or in free agency, such as Reggie Bullock or Doug McDermott, Windler could be a trade candidate. That’s also even with Sexton potentially sticking around, regarding the 2, and/or Okoro’s minutes there.

That’s involving Windler in particular, if there’s possible veteran backup point guards that could be had via trade and him maybe being again, a meaningful sweetener as a potential play, being involved in a deal.

Granted, I do still believe the Cavs could very well want to give Windler some more time next season to show more/perhaps get into a consistent rhythm.

That being said, given the reasons stated and especially with a possible wing free agent signing in the cards, Windler could seemingly be a dark horse candidate to be traded, even with two years remaining before he’s a potential restricted free agent.

So keep an eye out for that perhaps this offseason and/or in the earlier going of next season, Cavs fans.
