Windler could be sold as a potential play/sweetener as part of a Cavs trade package

The likes of the expiring Taurean Prince comes to mind as a logical trade candidate for this offseason, or early on next season perhaps, for one, and Cedi Osman, similarly to Prince, was previously a player mentioned in trade rumors near the past deadline.

So maybe Windler could be involved in a package with Prince/Osman in a trade, or maybe as part of a potential three-team trade at some point, and/or he could seemingly be part of a Collin Sexton-centric trade package, given trade rumors involving Sexton of late. The likes of rumored Sexton suitors in the Golden State Warriors or New York Knicks could possibly have some interest in Windler as part of a toss-in in a Sexton package, for example.

As we alluded to, the 24-year-old Windler (who will turn 25 before next season) has not been able to stay healthy with the Cavs.

But, if other clubs might have some interest in Prince/Osman, and/or if Windler’s shooting and offensive potential/salary matching can help facilitate a possible Larry Nance Jr. trade for a key veteran, such as say, the expiring Tomas Satoransky with the Chicago Bulls or Terrence Ross involving the Orlando Magic, then go for it.

That could feasibly be also involving a future second-round pick, when it comes to both. And maybe in regards to the Minnesota Timberwolves, a potential deal for the expiring Ricky Rubio could involve Prince and Windler, to go with two second-round picks, for example. I’m not exactly sure there, though.

Even with Windler not having been able to play much with Cleveland thus far, with them having a number of veteran trade candidates, and plenty of future second-round picks, to go with Sexton, Windler could be a player in a package other clubs might be interested in taking a flyer on.

Furthermore, if the Cavs looked to add a wing free agent signing and/or a potential other wing draft pick via trade, that’d make Windler expendable, too, and he might benefit from a change of scenery, anyhow.
