Reason #3 for LeBron to be NBA MVP: The Lakers are dominating

This really should be what seals the deal if it continues for LeBron. His team, the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, are still one of the best teams in the entire NBA at 16-6, and have only lost twice on the road.

They’re winning games at a high rate, and they’re doing so in dominating fashion; only two squads have a better point differential. The Lakers are currently seventh in the league in offensive rating at 112.5 and first in the league in defensive rating at 104.8, also.

The Lakers as a team are playing great basketball and they are doing so with LeBron James, who was so impressive in the last NBA Finals, too, as KJG’s Robbie DiPaola highlighted, as their centerpiece. If the Lakers continue at this pace they will likely compete for their second straight NBA championship, and if James continues at his current pace he should absolutely be strongly considered for MVP.

James has checked every single box that you would want for an MVP. He’s had outstanding stats, overall dominance, team success, and likely a shot at the NBA title. James has had a lot of those caliber seasons, and yet only four MVP trophies to show for it, and he’s again, somehow not been the league’s MVP since all the way back in 2013.

But LeBron’s play this year may make his MVP case unquestionable for the voters.
