Prince should help the Cavs’ off-ball shooting

Prior to his time with the Nets, Prince was actually seen as a quality shooter. During his time with the Hawks, he again shot 38.0 percent from beyond the arc on 4.5 attempts per game compared to just 34.0 percent from three on 6.2 attempts on the Nets. There are a lot of factors that go into this slip in production but, a change of scenery could help Prince return to his former self.

To look even deeper, it is Prince’s off-ball shooting that should really entice the Cavaliers. Looking at his last season with the Hawks, he shot 42.8 percent on catch-and-shoot triple attempts, per NBA.com’s shot tracking data. This off-ball shooting should bode well for a team with two ball-dominant guards in Darius Garland and Collin Sexton.

The Cavaliers could have Prince run a lot of motion off-ball, seeing him run around screens for open catch-and-shoot shots and/or get his share of open spot-ups.

Through everything that has been stated, for this pairing to be efficient, Prince has to return to the player he was for Atlanta. That type of efficiency for a wing is important to have a long and successful career. Going from the limelights of Brooklyn to Cleveland, hopefully, Prince can improve when the cameras aren’t on him as much.
