Cavs: Second bubble would likely be key growth opportunity for 3 young players

Kevin Porter Jr. would be a key player that’d likely benefit from potential second bubble work, too.
Porter showed plenty of promise as a rookie in 2019-20 with 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.9 steals per game, but more reps could also help him, even in a Summer League-type scenario.
Early on in his tenure in taking over as Cavs head coach, Bickerstaff mentioned how he wanted to see if KPJ could fill in at times at the 1. Due to the stoppage, we didn’t see that and the Cavs are officially done before next season, but here could be a chance for Porter to do so in some stretches against other teams.
Porter has proven to generate space consistently off-the-bounce already as a Cav, and with his handle and driving ability, him at the 1 at times could be a quality wrinkle for Cleveland to go on occasion.
Coupled with his encouraging passing feel he displayed more and more of leading into the hiatus, him in the 1 role or at least key playmaking role should be something we see throughout next season, I’d imagine.
Porter did show a knack for getting his hands in passing lanes, too, as he averaged 1.4 steals per-36 minutes, but he does need to improve in relation to closing out in a more controlled way. Plus, he needs to get better at getting through off-ball screens.
It is apparent, though, that with him being a key young piece for the Cavs for the foreseeable future, that KPJ could definitely benefit from a growth opportunity in a setting such as a second centralized NBA site/reps with other teams.
Lastly, a third key Cavs player that could likely benefit from second bubble work is a young wing that could be a knockdown shooter.
