#1: Will the U.S. win the FIBA WC, and if not, who will instead?

Matt Golonka:

Coming off a close loss against Australia, I still think the US will win the FIBA WC. My two teams to watch for that could possibly knock off the U.S., though, are Serbia, featuring Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Australia, led by Patty Mills and Joe Ingles.

Josh Friedman:

Even with the US not having the “star power” they’ve had in the past, they should still be considered favorites. They have the best coach in the world – Gregg Popovich – a major advantage.

Greece should be fun to watch with the Antetokounmpo brothers, and for Cavs fans, we can watch our former draft pick Sergey Karasev with Russia.

Robbie DiPaola:

I will say this, the United States should still be the favorites in the FIBA World Cup, but they don’t seem to have that shield of invisibility of years past. There is no LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, or Kevin Durant to turn to.

Instead, players such as Kemba Walker, Khris Middleton, and Donovan Mitchell will have to step up. If a team is going to unseat the United States I could see Serbia with Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic doing it, or Greece, who has the best overall player in the tournament in Giannis Antetokoumpo.

Either way, it is not an easy road for the Red, White, and Blue.

Corey Casey:

I’m going to go with Delly’s team. I think they have the better roster with the likes of Mills, Ingles, Andrew Bogut, Aron Baynes and Delly.

Tyler Marling:

I do see the USA winning the FIBA WC. They have some stiff competition with what many consider their “B” squad.

However, they have Donovan Mitchell, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, Khris Middleton, Jayson Tatum, and others. Those are still some of the best players in the world.
