Would you prefer the Cavs trade up for RJ Barrett, who they reportedly “really want?”

Josh Friedman:

I would like RJ Barrett. People forget he was the top-rated player coming out of high school (per ESPN) and had to share the ball with Zion Williamson and Cam Reddish. If the Cavs really like him, moving up for him makes sense.

That being said, I wouldn’t sell the farm just to move up two or three spots.

Robbie DiPaola:

If the Cavs can move up & draft Barrett without breaking the bank, I’d be all for it. They do have that late first-round pick (#26) which can they can pair with #5 and a player to deal.

Some analysts out there say Barrett is the best player in the draft (even over Williamson), so if the price is right, you go get him.

Marcus Grey:

I don’t think the Knicks are going to trade their third overall pick to the Cavs. They’re going to try to do everything possible to make an Anthony Davis trade and they need the third pick in order to do so.

Corey Casey:

It’s not that I wouldn’t want Barrett, but right now I don’t think the Cavs are in a position to give up big assets with where they are in this early of their rebuild.

Last year, when the Dallas Mavericks traded up from five to three it cost them a 2019 top five pick that ended up being the 10th pick in this year’s draft, and I don’t think the Cavs are in position to give up potentially that big of an asset in a future draft.
