Cleveland Cavaliers: Should the Cavs trade Jordan Clarkson?
By Doug Patrick
Trade Him Now:
Maybe the Cavs should cut their ties with Clarkson and get something back for him.
The story is not all bad for Clarkson, after all. He’s only 26-years-old. His three-point shooting also drastically improved alongside LeBron, as he shot a career-best 40.7% as a Cavalier.

In an offseason trade, the Cavs ideal trade partner is probably a mid-tier team. As a scoring guard who needs the ball but lacks the consistency to be the first option, he is probably best used as a sixth-man type of player.
A club in the 4-10 seed range may see Clarkson lifting them into the next level of contention by beefing up their bench. They envision a crafty playmaker that energizes and gets buckets for their second unit.
But now this image seems too likely a mirage. Clarkson’s first career playoff run severely lowered his stock. What would a team like Detroit or Dallas really be willing to give up for him? Could these teams be convinced that Clarkson is worth an expiring player or pick?
What about the opportunity cost?
A swing-and-miss with Clarkson and a team has mucked up their long-awaited 2019-2020 cap space.
At this point, Jordan Clarkson is more hindrance than an asset.
