The “Please Stay LeBron” Plan

The “Please Stay LeBron” Plan is simple. Just kidding it will require some major luck and heavy lifting from the Cavaliers’ front office.

The idea is simple: get a win now superstar who happens to be arguably the THIRD best player on the planet. Kawhi Leonard is the player that can keep LeBron and put the Cavaliers’ as favorites over the Rockets and Warriors.

The trade can go two ways.

One is where Cleveland would send Kevin Love, Osman and the 8th pick for Kawhi and Patty Mills. This trade only goes down if the Spurs value Love and consider him a part of their future which seems unlikely. Another scenario in which the Spurs would value young pieces over established players would require another team.

There is one team that is openly shopping its lottery pick. The Memphis Grizzlies.

Now the Grizzlies assistance would make this trade a bit more realistic. The Grizzlies don’t want to rebuild and want an established player. The Cavs would happily offer to use the Grizzlies foolishness to achieve the services of Leonard.

In a trade like this, the Grizzlies can give up their 4th pick to the Spurs and Parsons to the Cavs. The Cavs in return would give the Grizzlies their “franchise cornerstone Kevin Love” (cough, cough) and give the Spurs their 8th pick and Hill for Leonard and Patty Mills.

This is a trade-in where everyone (but the Grizzlies) win. The Spurs get the 4th and 8th pick as well as a solid point guard in Hill. The Cavs get Leonard, a solid three-point shooter in Mills and a bad contract in Parsons. However, Parson’s contract is a small price to plat for Kawhi.  And lastly, the Grizzlies get their established player in Kevin Love.
