The real Kevin Love finally showed up

It has been well documented about Love and his lackluster playoff performances over the years. Kevin did little to dispel those claims after a subpar first-round series. The Cavaliers second option averaged just 11.4 points and shot 33.3 percent from the floor.

However, while Love’s scoring totals were down, he still managed to stay active on the boards. Kevin’s 9.3 rebounds per game against Indiana were second most on the team behind LeBron.

Even after Game 1 against the Raptors, Love still struggled to find his shot, going 3-13 from the floor. But the Cavaliers kept their faith in their All-Star power forward, which paid off last night.

Love had the hot hand early, scoring 10 points in the opening quarter. At the half, he actually led the Cavaliers in points, with 18 on 7-14 shooting.

For the first time in the postseason, Love looked determined.  He went to the hoop with no hesitation and also shot the ball with confidence.

Kevin also creates a mismatch for the Raptors. Love starting at center brings Jonas Valancunics away from the basket, allowing for easier driving lanes.

Love’s 31 points, added with LeBron’s 43 point, 14 assist game made for a dominant one-two punch. If tonight’s line becomes a consistent one for Love, Cleveland will be nearly impossible to beat in the East.
