2018 NBA Mock Draft: March Madness Edition
With the 29 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Warriors select Trevon Duval
Trevon Duval has averaged 9.9 points and 5.5 assists per game in his freshman season at the University of Duke.
Playing in arguably the country’s hardest collegiate conference, Duval showed flashes of a dynamic playmaker, but his size and shooting could certainly be an issue.
Duval averaged just 0.7 triples per game, so his transition to the NBA’s three-point line could be difficult. However, backing up both Shaun Livingston and Steph Curry, two quality point guards, Duval will have the ability to learn from the best to start his NBA career.
The Warriors are needing to take risks later in this draft, and if they get a scoring 6-foot-3 guard from a major collegiate program, they should be able to develop him just like they did Ian Clark. The Warriors have young prospects at every position, expect point guard and small forward so drafting a point guard with this pick only makes sense.
Overall, Duval, although he might need significant development, should be worth the risk.
