The Cavs continue to win when Jose Calderon starts.

This has been a bizarre season for the Cavaliers. One of the oddest stats of the season is the Cavs’ 18-8 record in games Calderon starts.

Koby Altman’s tenure as general manager got off to a head-scratching start when he went out and signed Calderon on the first day of free agency. Many, including myself, thought that this was an odd and somewhat unnecessary move.

The confusion continued when the Cavs chose to keep him over fan favorite Richard Jefferson right before the season started. But, Calderon has shown us that he’s more than deserving of a roster spot.

Calderon’s stats don’t necessarily jump off the page. He finished the night with nine points and six assists. But Calderon does all the little things right that you want from a backup point guard.
