With their third deal of the day, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded sixth man Dwyane Wade to the Miami Heat for a heavily protected second-round pick.

This was more of Altman doing Wade a favor than the Cleveland Cavaliers actually gaining any return for Wade. Wade, who averaged 11.2 points per game, the lowest of his career, will get to finish his phenomenal career with his long-term team, the Miami Heat.

Adrian Wojnarowski first broke the report.

Wade is finally going home. After a rough and emotionally draining year in Cleveland, it’s time. Wade spent 13 seasons in Miami, and he will get to go home where he belongs. He proved that he can transition to the bench and contribute even at 36.

Miami is actually a playoff team in the East this season. They sit at 29-26 and are currently No. 7 in the East. Wade’s veteran presence will help a rather young array of guards in Miami.

Albeit, without Wade, the Cavaliers bench might not have the poise they once had. The locker room will also be changed without Wade. Especially with the absence of Channing Frye too, the Cavaliers locker room will certainly not be what it once was.

The complete remodeling of their team will have consequences, but it is apparent that Wade wanted out of the mayhem that is about to occur in Cleveland. Dwyane Wade, who is one of LeBron James’ best friends, might retire as a member of the Heat after this season. One factor that might contribute to Wade’s approval for this trade is his view of Cleveland’s future.

Most fans still acknowledge Golden State as the NBA’s best team. Wade, who came to Cleveland to win a championship, might not envision that happening. If Wade thought the Cavs had a chance, he might’ve wanted to stay in Cleveland.

While that’s certainly not a report and might not have even crossed Wade’s mind, it certainly crossed my mind when a significant contributor was traded for nearly nothing. This team is ready to reshape, and even without Wade, they still have one of the league’s best second units.
