Two conclusions for the Cleveland Cavaliers as 2017 ends

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - DECEMBER 30: LeBron James

The sun has set in 2017. Now is as good a time as any to reflect on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Upon my reflection these are my two conclusions: LeBron James is the best player in the game and a major change is coming to Cleveland Cavaliers as an organization.

James, in Year 15, is having a season for the ages.

Have you ever seen a more player be better in his 15th season than King James?

Of course not.

It is time for us to all sit back and witness his greatness. All the present NBA greats fade in comparison to King James.

Cavs Nation, no matter how this season ends or where James heads in the summer of 2018, for all of 2017 he was yours. This may just be the last year you can make that claim, so my advice to you is to savor it for all it’s worth.

Whether or not James leaves, change is coming in Cleveland. The only question is, what is this change?

According to basketball insider Sam Amico, DeAndre Jordan is a target for the Cavaliers. Jordan could be the change that is coming to the Cavaliers.

The problem is Jordan comes at a cost, and he might not be worth the cost. Tristan Thompson, J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert will not get you Jordan.

The Clippers would tell you ‘”no” in every known language and a few others too.

A more realistic trade offer for Jordan would be Tristan Thompson and the Brooklyn pick. This trade scenario also comes with a risk.

Would Jordan, who can opt out of his contract next summer, re-sign with the Cavaliers if James leaves? Highly unlikely.

Isaiah Thomas learned this summer that there is no loyalty in the NBA, so he need not consider sentiments in Cleveland. If James goes, why would IT stick around?

The Brooklyn pick is insurance just in case James leaves and the Cavs’ cupboard becomes bare.

Since we are on the subject of IT, it is fair to say that he could also be the change. Thomas is going to improve Cleveland’s offensive output though, unfortunately, he may give up as many points as he puts out.

At least the team has a winning blueprint where Thomas can fill the role of Kyrie Irving, albeit with less flair.

The Cavs are a great team. In 2017, the Cavaliers made it to the NBA Finals for the third consecutive season and ended the year as the favorites to make it back in the NBA Finals in 2018.
