Cleveland Cavaliers: What to do with the Kyrie Irving trade exception
By Simon Hannig
4.) Kyle O’Quinn (NYK) — $4,087,500
The New York Knicks will once again be a bottom feeder in the Eastern Conference and will most likely unload some veterans at the trade deadline like O’Quinn. Like Vonleh, O’Quinn is an energy guy off the bench and an experienced veteran.
O’Quinn isn’t a guy who usually shoots jumpers, but he is a heck of an offensive rebounder and bangs down low well. Once he gets inside, it is hard to stop him. He is actively trying to get offensive rebounds just like Thompson. Having an equalizing energy guy next to Thompson would be huge of the bench. The Cavs had issues rebounding the ball last season and having a rebounder like O’Quinn would be excellent. He is also a decent rebounder.
Like Vonleh, O’Quinn’s stats may not pop out at you, but he does a lot that doesn’t show in the box score. For his career, O’Quinn is averaging 5.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.4 steals per game.
Like Vonleh, O’Quinn is an excellent blocker.
Another excellent game by O’Quinn last season.
