5 NBA teams LeBron James would want to own
New York Knicks
New York is the Mecca of basketball and it’s relevance in the history of the game doesn’t escape James’, a noted basketball historian.
James has long since said that Madison Square Garden is one of his favorite places to play. In fact, it’s his favorite place to play.
When the New York Post asked James how he felt about playing in the Garden, this was his response:
"“If I could have 82 regular-season games in the Garden, I would because it’s the Mecca of basketball.’’"
James’ ownership would likely flip the script for the struggling New York Knicks and, based on the spat James had with Phil Jackson during the regular season, the Zen Master would be out of the Big Apple.
James’ relationship with Warren Buffet figures to come into play. If Buffet, a famed stock investor with a net worth of $74.1 billion, joins the ownership group, it’s not hard to see a bid for ownership paying off. James is a larger-than-life and he’ll be sure to attract a lot of quality free agents to the Knicks.
When James was a free agent in 2010, Mike Bloomberg, former mayor of New York, tried to sway James to sign with the Knicks.

"“Rumors are that both the Knicks and the Nets would like to get him. I would never take sides on that, but I think it would be great for New York if he would come here,” Bloomberg said on his weekly Friday show on WOR Radio."
"“If asked, if he calls me and says ‘What’s it like to live in New York?’ I’ll give him a big sales pitch for New York,’ ” Bloomberg said on his show. “I love living in New York, my kids love living in New York, I think LeBron James would love living in New York and it is the world’s greatest stage,” the mayor added."
If James becomes the owner of the Knicks, they may just make him the mayor.
