Cleveland Cavaliers: Tristan Thompson May Marry Khloe Kardashian

Khloe Kardashian is ready to marry Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson.

This story will be a bit different from the usual. Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson may tie the proverbial knot with Khloe Kardashian. It’s already been discussed by the couple according to the reality TV star and she’s ready.

When talking about what drew her into Thompson in the first place, given her past relationships with James Harden and Lamar Odom, who had way more notoriety than Thompson has had thus far in his basketball career, the youngest Kardashian sister summed it up with the word “normalcy”.

Her full quote, transcribed by Elaine Lipworth of the Evening Standard:

"But when she met the basketball player (who has a four-month old son with his former girlfriend, model Jordan Craig) she says ‘we both felt this strong energy. I was like, oh this is such a nice, normal man — the normalcy is what I was craving.’ They discovered they had similar values. ‘I’m a Christian; he’s a believer in God and that’s important to me. Tristan’s morals and ethics are everything I’ve wanted and need in my life.’"

Well, that’s nice. Thompson, who comes to Khloe’s life after her relationship with Odom who ended up addicted to hard drugs, overdosed and nearly ended up in a vegetative state or worse and Harden, who simply broke things off because he felt like she was a distraction.

Thompson, who is the last guy you would associate with hard drugs or breaking off a relationship because it’s inconvenient, is a great match for Khloe because he’s as clean-cut as they come and has a solid moral foundation. In the life of a Hollywood star, that’s something that can’t be found everywhere.

To that point, one of the biggest things to a Christian is finding a partner from the same yolk, or faith, as them. That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been any need to adjust for Thompson, as Khloe recounts this story for Lipworth (from the same article) about a trip they took early on in their relationship:

"Early in the relationship they went on holiday to Mexico: ‘We took a private plane to avoid everything and enjoy our privacy, and we thought we were in the clear. But the paparazzi were on boats, they got pictures and I didn’t find out until later. I was like, “I’m so sorry”, and Tristan was like, “It’s okay”. You could tell that was a big pill to swallow. But he accepts who I am. He likes to protect me, which I haven’t had before — someone looking out for me almost before himself.’"

What may not have stuck out in this quote is the last sentence. A sentence that reflects the person that Thompson is and the effect he’s had on Khloe’s life. “He likes to protect me, which I haven’t had before”. On the one hand, Thompson is a gentleman, caring. On the other hand, Khloe seems to not have been cared for very well.

That’s why it should be no surprise that she wants to start a family with Thompson:

"‘I would love to have a family,’ she says. With Thompson? ‘We’ve talked about it. He [already] is a father, and I know for a fact that he would be an impeccable father. I definitely want to be a mom. But I don’t put the pressure on it. It’s not like, “the clock is ticking”. I feel in my soul it will happen.’"

While some would say that this is only news because it’s Khloe Kardashian, some would say that there’s a “Kardashian Curse” and Thompson should stay away from her. Some would even say that this is a basketball site and Thompson’s relationship shouldn’t be a piece at all, I genuinely think it’s important for everybody to recognize things like this. Things that make the basketball players seem normal and human, like love and marriage.

It’s also important to recognize the importance of love and marriage because without one or either, life really hasn’t been lived to its fullest.
