Who would have thought that Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps would the inspirations behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James’ DJ, DJ Steph Floss?

The Cleveland Cavaliers in-game DJ and LeBron James’ DJ, DJ Steph Floss of 107.9, has interesting inspirations for his current profession. Omar Epps and Tupac Shakur.

When talking to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of “Scoop B Radio”, DJ Steph Floss revealed that his decision to be a DJ started after his older brother introduced him to the movie “Juice” as a kid. A movie he played “all the time”.

DJ Steph Floss, who grew up as a fan of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, initially watched the movie because of Tupac’s role in it. “Juice“, a 1992 film starring Omar Epps, Khalil Kain, Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins and Tupac Shakur, is a story about four inner-city youths whose lives take an interesting turn when one of them gains possession of a firearm and then turns against the others. The weapon and the power he subsequently holds is called “the juice”.

It’s a haunting tale, one in which Tupac is the antagonist and displays incredible acting skills.

As two of the youth die at the hands of Tupac, there’s one survivor. Epps, whose name is “Q” in the film and who is called “DJ GQ” when goes to perform at parties as a DJ, ends up having “the juice” after Bishop falls off the ledge of a building during a physical altercation.

That’s simply the plot of the movie but what could have drawn DJ Steph Floss to Epps’ character were scenes like these:

The energy, the crowd, the swag. The music. Who wouldn’t want to be a DJ watching this growing up?

DJ Steph Floss, who grew up with Rich Paul and attended high school with him before going to Ohio State University and starting his DJ’ing career with his first school refund check, has been the Cleveland Cavaliers’ DJ for eight seasons.

DJ Steph Floss has gone on record to say the Cleveland Cavaliers have the best in-game entertainment. He says that not only does he “get busy” and know what players like Tristan Thompson (who is like a little brother to him) like to hear, he knows how to read the crowd. He also says that even before they started winning again, the Cavs had great in-game entertainment that went past the music in the arena. The dancers, halftime games and player skits are also all top-notch.

Really, Floss’ whole interview is entertaining, especially as he talks about being by LeBron James during the time he made the decision and the misconception that all Clevelanders turned against LeBron when he went to Miami.
