Cleveland Cavaliers: Ranking The Five Best Centers To Replace Andrew Bogut
4. Luis Scola
Luis Scola is another offensive-minded frontcourt player for the Cleveland Cavaliers but what he has the Sullinger doesn’t is extensive experience in the NBA. Scola, who is in his 11th NBA season, has 505 career starts in the regular season and has 48 games of playoff experience.
Scola’s offensive repertoire includes a bag of post moves that Scola unleashes with confidence. Using his sturdy 240 pound frame, Scola backs his man down on the block and can get a jump hook off with either hand or turn the post up into a fadeaway jumper. Scola, who can score out to three-point range with better efficiency than Sullinger, is a truly gifted scorer.
At 6-foot-9, Scola doesn’t have the ideal length to protect the paint in space or against lengthier bigs and his lack of agility and explosion doesn’t do him any favors when he has to guard out in space. However, he’s an intelligent, hard-nosed defender that will do his best wherever he’s asked to defend. While the results may not always turn out great, Scola is a strong team defender who will make it to the right spots, work hard to make players give the ball up on the perimeter and is a tough, gritty player who won’t be pushed around down low.
Scola is a decent option for the Cleveland Cavaliers who can do everything Sullinger can do and more but without questions about his self-discipline.
