The Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to get their second win of the season tonight, and will attempt to stifle the lowly Denver Nuggets in the process.
If someone told you that the Cleveland Cavaliers would be sitting at 1-3 through their first four games of the new LeBron James era, you might be laughed out of the room. Everyone foresaw potential problems out of the gate, but no one saw a start that would see the team struggling the way they are.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are reported feuding, the defense can’t play defense and Anderson Varejao’s extension looks like a waste of money at this point. That’s all knee-jerk reactions after an abysmal first four games to the season but it’s the way things seem to be right now.
All of that can change with a win tonight, as the Cavaliers are desperate to turn this ship around as soon as possible.

It’s easy to hate on them and find flaws when the team is 1-3, but put another win on their belt and some of the problems start to melt away. People need something to talk about on the morning shows, and the Cavaliers are an easy target right now.
If they lose to the Denver Nuggets though, the wheels will really start to come off and the cracks will be as visible as they’ve ever been.
It’s possible that the Cavaliers could lose again, but let’s not all act like they were blown out by the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. Cleveland could have won that game and it was a lot closer than people are trying to make it out as being. The main qualm everyone rightfully has is with the low assist totals on the team, but even that isn’t all on Kyrie. He passes the ball, the Cavaliers just need to score.
They need to play defense too, which is something they can prove they can do tonight in Denver. They’ll be a mile high, but the defense is playing way low and that needs to change.
At the end of the day, Cleveland should and probably will win this game. There is no way they can drop three games in a row and end this road trip on that kind of a skid. It won’t be easy, which has been established so far this season, but the Cavaliers have too much pride riding on this game to fumble it away like they have so many times already this season.
