O’Neale and Finney-Smith would be reliable three-and-D players

Both the 6-foot-6 O’Neale (per NBA.com) and 6-foot-7 Finney-Smith are alluring targets considering how they could bolster Cleveland’s wing outlook/rotation, and they’re proven three-and-D contributors in this league. Of the two, Finney-Smith would probably function as Cleveland’s starting 3, with O’Neale being a suitable bench contributor that could still play a steady allotment of minutes, and both have the ability to defend multiple positions.

Finney-Smith has gradually improved as a catch-and-shoot player over the course of his career, most of which has been with the Dallas Mavericks, and though it’s been eye-popping, his 35.7 percent career clip from three has been fine. He’s also hit 37.7 percent from three over the last four seasons, even with last season having been a down year overall at 30.6 percent. He was also traded mid-season to Brooklyn, for context.

In O’Neale’s case, he’s connected on 38.4 percent from three-point range over his career, of which he spent his first five seasons playing with the Utah Jazz. In his final three seasons with Utah, he was a full-time starter, and while his splits didn’t jump off the page with 6.9 points per outing in those years, he’s a reliable defender, similarly to Finney-Smith, and both would be meaningful floor spacers for Cleveland.

Both have had tons of experience, including in the postseason, playing as spacers for stars, and function well as off-ball contributors.
