How the Cavaliers trade Jarrett Allen for two young players

The Golden State Warriors exited the playoffs earlier than expected, although ahead of where they finished this season (in sixth place in the Western Conference). It was an up-and-down season, and to continue contending around Stephen Curry there will need to be changes.

Could the Utah Jazz double down on their rebuild, while the Cavaliers get younger? Here’s what such a three-team move could look like:

The Cavaliers would have to give up Jarrett Allen, which is painful, but they would get back two recent lottery picks in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. Kuminga is a hyper-athletic forward who can guard nearly every position and attacks the rim with relish, while Moody is a traditional 3-and-D wing with the strength to guard down and the skill to play up on offense.

For this exchange between the Warriors and Cavaliers to work, however, there has to be a third team. That team is Utah, which sends Lauri Markkanen to the Warriors for Jordan Poole and two future picks, which is quite the change in value from when the Cavs had Markkanen in their starting lineup.
