One free agent target for Cavaliers from each remaining playoff team
Free Agent Target No. 5: Donte DiVincenzo, Golden State Warriors
Draymond Green could be a free agent this summer, but the Cavs won’t be one of the teams pursuing him if he does hit the open market; if the Warriors keep on winning, it’s likely he never hits free agency at all.
A less-discussed free agent, however, is Donte DiVincenzo. The former Milwaukee Bucks guard has rebounded from a tough injury rehab to be a key rotation player for the defending champions. He can create on-ball, shoot off-ball, and plays smart defense with quick hands. He could start for the right team at the 2, or be an excellent fit as a Sixth Man.
He is a logical replacement for Caris LeVert, lacking a bit of his size but making up for it with strength and shooting. DDV hit 39.7 percent of his 3-pointers this season, also averaging 1.3 steals and 3.5 assists per game in just 26.3 minutes. He will be a candidate to get the Full Mid-Level Exception from a team this summer, and the Cavs could be the right fit.
DiVincenzo doesn’t have the size to play small forward very often, which means if he joined the Cavs they would likely trot out some three-guard lineups and put pressure on Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen to clean up on the back end. Still, he would be a great choice defending opposing guards, and if Ricky Rubio isn’t able to bounce back could play big minutes as the backup guard to both starters.
