No. 1: Dorian Finney-Smith, Brooklyn Nets

While the Cavs have a few different needs they can look to fill this offseason, by far their biggest need is a 3-and-D player who can start at the 3. Simply finding that fifth player to bridge the lineup gap, one good enough on both ends of the court to survive in the playoffs, could go a long ways to helping the Cavaliers take a step forward next postseason.

Most of the players best suited to that role are either not available or too expensive. The Brooklyn Nets make sense as a team with a few such options, and with their team loaded with such role players it’s possible they are open to moving one or two this offseason. That’s the rationale behind why Dorian Finney-Smith may be available on the trade market.

Bleacher Report’s top trade target is a smart pick. Finney-Smith can defend multiple positions, he is a 35.7 percent 3-point shooter (enough to keep defenses honest) and he doesn’t need the ball in his hands to play hard. Is there any chance the Cavs can put together a package without a first-round pick to entice the Nets to deal him?

Probably not, but it’s at least possible. Perhaps Isaac Okoro, Cedi Osman and three second-round picks get the job done. If so, he would be an instant upgrade and an immediate starter. He is the exact kind of player the Cavs should be pursuing this summer.
