Mobley’s Game 4

Mobley has been masterful on the defensive end for the Cavaliers. He has been integral in shutting down Knicks star forward Julius Randle, who turned in another dud of a performance with seven points in Game 4. Mobley has made life very tough for him due to his length and quickness.

One thing about Mobley that needs to improve though is his offensive aggressiveness and playing through contact. He finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and while that is efficient, he should be looking for his shot more. He has not taken more than 13 shots in a game this series and while Garland and Mitchell have to carry the load offensively, Mobley can offer a lot as a third scoring option.

I am not saying he needs to force shots, but being a scoring threat can go a long way. This will make the defense pay attention to him a bit more in the paint, which will open things up for guys like Garland, Mitchell, and Caris LeVert to do their thing.

Now, Mobley is young and very early on in his development, so it is not fair to criticize the budding star. With that being said, he at least needs to be more of a scoring threat in Game 5 if the Cavs want to force a Game 6.
