It’s about to be that time once again, Cleveland Cavaliers fans. The Wine and Gold are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2018, and this is a group that’s hungry.

The Cavaliers had 51 wins in the 2022-23 regular season, and after the team made a Play-In Tournament appearance last season, they built on that this go-round, and are ready to make some noise.

Cleveland had the top-ranked defense this season, which has been the calling card for this group. This club has also had a different gear offensively this year with the trade acquisition of Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz last offseason, and as the season has worn on, it’s been great to see Evan Mobley get more and more comfortable offensively.

Now, for the Cavaliers, is the real test, though. The regular season finished on Sunday around the league, and this weekend, the NBA Playoffs are slated to begin. Cleveland secured home court advantage in the first round, and they will face the New York Knicks. This could very well be a long series ahead between the Cavs and Knicks.

So what’s the breakdown for the Wine and Gold’s postseason schedule, for now?

Here, we’ll touch on that, in looking at the Cleveland Cavaliers Playoff Schedule, with them again set to square against the Knicks in the first round. We’ll update this as more of the playoffs unfold.

For now, per a release from the NBA which was updated over the course of recent days, here are the Cavaliers’ games and times, with programming information. Each postseason series in each round for both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference is a best-of-seven format, with those being 2-2-1-1-1 formats.

*After recent updates, and the first two games of the Cavs’ series versus the Knicks, we do now know the dates of when Games 5, 6 and 7 will be, but not the times.

  • Game 1: Knicks at Cavaliers – Saturday, April 15 at 6 PM EST, on ESPN/Bally Sports Ohio – Knicks 101-97 W
  • Game 2: Knicks at Cavaliers – Tuesday, April 18 at 7:30 PM EST on TNT/Bally Sports Ohio – Cavs 107-90 W
  • Game 3: Cavaliers at Knicks – Friday, April 21 at 8:30 PM EST on ABC/Bally Sports Ohio
  • Game 4: Cavaliers at Knicks – Sunday, April 23 at 1:00 PM EST on ABC
  • Game 5: Knicks at Cavaliers – Wednesday, April 26
  • Game 6 (if necessary): Cavaliers at Knicks – TBD
  • Game 7 if necessary): Knicks at Cavaliers – TBD

If Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and the Cavs defeat the Knicks in the first round, they’d take on the winner of the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and the No. 8 seed Miami Heat in the Conference Semifinals. The Conference Semifinals games are set to begin May 1-2, with possible dates being moved up to April 29-30.

As the first round unfolds, if the Cavs advance, we’ll update this as follows for the Semifinal.

Following that, if the Cavs were to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, those games are set to begin on May 16-17, with potential move-up dates being May 14-15. That’d involve Cleveland taking on the winner of the first-round series between the No. 2 seed Boston Celtics and No. 7 seed Atlanta Hawks versus the winner of the No. 3 seed Philadelphia 76ers and No. 6 Brooklyn Nets. So, the winner of the other Conference Semifinal round in the East would be that potential Cavs opponent.

As the East Semifinals unfold, if the Cavs advance, we’ll update this as follows for the Conference Final.

Lastly, if the Cavaliers were to advance all the way to the NBA Finals, that’d be set to start on June 1. More programming info will be sure to follow, similarly to the other rounds after Round 1, and if so, we’ll be sure to update the relevant info.
