Offseason Priority No. 2: Snagging a good prospect in the 2nd round

I won’t lie, I probably will not stay awake to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers make their second-round selection. The NBA draft goes way into the night, and I will probably be too tired to see the Cavs select a prospect. I remember last draft I was struggling to stay awake, and once Cleveland selected Isaiah Mobley, I went to bed.

Anyway, the Cavs could either go the NBA-ready route, or go for a project-player, like a younger prospect. Around the 45th pick, there will still be tons of good talent. I’d assume the Cavaliers would make the player one of their two-way players, or maybe give them a non-guaranteed contract.

My favorite player the Cavs could take is UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez Jr., a 22-year-old defensive wing. Theoretically, he is one of the most NBA-ready players in the whole draft, so it would make sense for Cleveland taking him. Also, he does fit the mold of a defense first team in the Cavs.

Another player I am interested in would be Drew Timme. Another 22-year-old forward, but he plays for Gonzaga. Not really a floor-spacer for a power forward, but that is fine. Not an athletic specimen, either. However, he is a great prospect nonetheless and the Cavs could still select him and see what he would have to offer.
