Cavaliers point guard draft prospects: Adam Flagler, Baylor Bears

Our third team is yet another team with recent NCAA Tournament success, as the Baylor Bears won the Championship two seasons ago. While the starters from that team, Davion Mitchell and Jared Butler, are already playing in the NBA, Adam Flagler was a backup on that team and helped cut down the nets.

Flagler is now a senior and a leader on this year’s Baylor team, which enters the bracket as a three-seed. He is scoring 15.5 points per game while hitting 40.3 percent of his 3-pointers, one of the best perimeter scoring threats in the country. He has developed as a passer and playmaker as well, averaging 4.7 assists for one of the top offenses in the nation.

The problem will be on defense, where Flagler struggles at the point of attack and is often hidden on less intimidating opponents. That isn’t a death knell for his prospects as an NBA player, but he isn’t an explosive athlete and will need to find ways to survive defensively to not be played off of the floor.

These three point guard prospects all play for good teams and will have a chance to display their best attributes in the NCAA Tournament. Any of the three could be a great fit for the Cavaliers to take in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft.
