The Cleveland Cavaliers have been blessed with plenty of depth at the point guard position this season. They have a fringe All-Star in Darius Garland, an accomplished backup in Ricky Rubio, an overqualified third-stringer in Raul Neto, and two players in Donovan Mitchell and Caris LeVert who can handle point guard duties in a pinch.

That’s a far cry from where the Cavs were last season. With Rubio out for the year with a torn ACL, joining Collin Sexton on the shelf, and Donovan Mitchell playing in Utah, the Cavs had Darius Garland and little else. When injuries struck the Cavs were stuck scrambling.

Next season the Cavaliers will still have Garland, Mitchell and Rubio, so they should be well set at the position for rotation minutes during the season. Neto was always a one-year option to fill in while Rubio rehabbed from his injury; he will almost certainly play elsewhere in 2023-24. The Cavs’ depth allows them to draft and develop a player at the position to hopefully one day replace Rubio.

Armed with just a second-round pick, the top point guard prospects are off the board. That’s fine. There are still plenty of options who will be on the board in the second round, including these three point guards who will be in action in March Madness. How could each one help the Cavs out?
