These are two teams headed in very different directions tonight they’ll meet like ships passing in the night. Except that the S.S. Popovich ship is sinking or tanking right to the ocean floor.

The San Antonio Spurs have lost seven in a row including Saturday to the Atlanta Hawks, 125-106 when they allowed Trae Young to have 24 points and 17 assists. Just wait until they see the Cleveland Cavaliers with Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.

While the Spurs are doing a good job losing games, Cleveland has won six in a row. The second longest active win-streak in the NBA. Vegas thinks they’ll extend it to seven tonight at home. Here are the odds:

Spurs vs. Cavaliers odds, spread and total

Spurs vs. Cavaliers prediction and pick

The Spurs are a bad team, we all know that, they’re 14-43 which ties them in the loss column for the worst record in the NBA. Not only that, but they’re an even worse team on the road, 5-22, and 9-18 against the spread in road games.

The only team that’s worse is Golden State (8-19 ATS). San Antonio is 0-5 ATS in its last five road games against a team with a winning home record, like the Cavaliers.

The Cavs have been elite on the defensive end this season, but especially in these last six games which encompasses their win-streak. They have a 101.9 defensive rating in that stretch which is by far the best in the NBA.

Their offense has also been incredible which leaves them with a 17.8 net rating, again by far the best in the NBA.

The Spurs seriously struggle to score, and that’s not going to get any better against the best defensive team in the league.

Keldon Johnson will have a hard time driving in the lane against Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen and beyond him, their next best scorers are Jeremy Sochan and Malaki Branham, two rookies, or Devonte Graham, who they acquired at the deadline.

This is a massive spread, but honestly I’m undeterred by it, let’s take the huge favorite at home.
