No. 2 ranked trade target: Gary Trent Jr., Toronto Raptors

If the Cavs are interested in bringing in more instant offense, then look no further than Gary Trent Jr.

There are rumors that he could be available in a trade from the Toronto Raptors. This season he is averaging almost 19 points a game while putting up about 15 shots a game. He puts up seven three-pointers a game too and his hitting at a 37% clip this year.

He loves offense and loves to take the three-pointer. He’s put up 33 three-pointers in the last four games this season. He went 4-for-10 on them in a recent road win against the Portland Trail Blazers. While Trent would be a nice addition to the team, he stands at 6’5” and doesn’t necessarily have the size for that three spot in the lineup.

But he would certainly provide Cleveland with more offense. He’s had 18 games this season where he went for more than 20 points.

Recently there was a trade proposal suggested by Bleacher Report that had Trent being dealt to the Cavs and his teammate Khem Birch for Caris LeVert and Isaac Okoro and a second-round pick. In that article, they discussed how Okoro has been playing better and shooting the ball better from the outside but he still doesn’t come close to the volume of shots that Trent can get up in a game.

This type of trade for Cleveland would be a much bigger story if it were to happen. It would tell you that they were not only playing to get into the postseason but to win a championship.
