3 players the Cavaliers could sign on 10-day contracts
No. 1: Ben McLemore
As of now, Ben McLemore is still a free agent, and he should get another contract from some NBA team. He’s a great shooter, and a fine secondary playmaker as well. He averaged 9.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game in his 9-year career. He has also shot 36.3% from distance in his entire career, which is a solid statistic. The Cavs do need sharpshooting, as they have the 12th- best 3-point shooting percentage in the league, also at 36.3%. They also shoot the 9th-least 3-pointers in the league, 31.4 attempts per game.
He is not the best defender in the world, but not the worst, either. His true shooting percentage is solid, at 56.7% for last season on the Trail Blazers. Sure, he didn’t really shoot well from the field, but that was probably because of his shot selection. Most of his shots that he took were 3-point shots, and he really didn’t take shots inside the arc. He did shoot well from the free throw line, at 81.8%.
If he were to be signed on a 10-day with the Cavs, he’d probably just stand in the corners on offense. He is a quality catch-and-shoot threat, shooting 37.7% from catch-and-shoot triples. His career looked to be wrapped up once he was waived by the Kings in the 2018-19 season. However, he was picked up by the Rockets the next offseason and played next to two ball-dominant guards and was able to spread the floor for a team that didn’t have amazing spacing (sound familiar?).
