These 2 Cavs players are set to improve in second half of the season
By Dan Gilinsky
Currently, the Cleveland Cavaliers are sitting at fifth in a loaded Eastern Conference at 27-17, and they have some things they’ll have to shore up.
What is evident, though, is this team is a talented one that should make the postseason, as they have a superstar in Donovan Mitchell now, and Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are all core pieces they can usually lean on.
But, Cleveland has some issues to iron out still, and trade rumors about the Cavs seeking wing help will continue to be there, and for an offensive and/or shooting boost, one would have to think a move could be made by the deadline.
Recently, longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein reported via his Substack how the Cavs have “weighed” pursuing a three-way trade where the Utah Jazz would acquire the Atlanta Hawks’ John Collins and Caris LeVert would be dealt to Atlanta (subscription required). In that hypothetical, Cleveland would acquire Malik Beasley from Utah.
Generally speaking, the Cavaliers would seem to be active from here until the Feb. 9 deadline, and LeVert is a clear potential trade piece, with his expiring deal and rumors throughout. He is a player who has picked up his play in recent weeks, on the plus side.
Looking internally at what’s ahead for the Cavs, however, while there have been a number of quality contributors, and bright spots, there are some players that need to pick things up some in the rest of the season ahead. Trade rumors aside, some internal improvement has to come, for Cleveland’s offense, especially.
Having said that, here, we’ll take a closer look at two Cavs that should be set to improve, as we’re a bit past the seasons’ halfway point.
The first is a rotational big that’s been off of late.
