Cavaliers vs. Timberwolves prediction and odds for Saturday, January 14th (How to bet over/under)

The Cavaliers are wrapping up a five game west coast road trip in Minnesota against the Timberwolves in hopes of building on their last game, a close victory over the Trail Blazers.

Cleveland is buoyed by an elite defense that is anchored by their interior defense with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley shutting down the paint. Rudy Gobert used to dominate opposing offenses with his rim protection, but the Cavs are the new shut down D.

How will this all play out with the Cavs heading home after an extended road trip? Let’s take a look at the odds:

Minnesota is playing great basketball since the calendar turned to 2023, winning five of six in January with the sixth best net rating in the league. The offense is playing at an elite level around Anthony Edwards, who is up to nearly 24 points per game with six rebounds and four assists, but the defense continues to be a concern, 14th in the league this month.

What’s interesting to note is that the Cavs defense has slid since the start of the month, 16th in points allowed per 100 possessions, but they have faced strong offenses in that small sample, so I don’t think there is a ton to glean from a season long perspective.

With that being said, I do think this is shaping up for an over game with the Cavs at the end of a five game road trip. Edwards has the T’Wolves offense playing as good as it has all season and he’s catching the elite Cleveland offense on a downswing.
