No. 2: Terrence Ross

Another seemingly low-cost trade target, piggybacking off Fischer’s report, could be 31-year-old Terrence Ross. Ross’ 8.3 points per game this season don’t necessarily leap out, but he’s a key veteran presence and locker room guy for the Orlando Magic, and has long been one of their leaders and glue guys that would mesh in any locker room.

The key here, though, is that in a situation with the Cavaliers, Ross could be a dangerous shooter for them as a spacer within the rotation, movement shooter, in particular, and is a capable shot creator as a counter.

In a situation playing for stretches with the Cavs’ core around him, or players such as Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love, Ross could flourish as a bench scorer, and his shooting could prove valuable in closing time/the postseason down the road as well.

Though his role has decreased in the past two seasons with the Magic rebuilding, Ross had 15.6 points per outing in 2020-21, and over the years, his movement shooting has often given Orlando pop off the bench. So, perhaps as a target for Cedi Osman and Dylan Windler, Cleveland could consider Ross, who has some postseason experience under his belt, also, and in varying roles, has connected on 36.2 percent of his three-point attempts in his career.

Again, however, would the Cavs want to move a player such as Osman for that of the archetype of Ross or Richardson? It’s a fair question, and Osman has familiarity with Cleveland.

But, seemingly hypothetical targets such as Richardson and Ross could be meaningful contingencies if Cleveland weren’t able to land Bojan Bogdanovic, another player they’re reportedly targeting in in Tim Hardaway Jr., or perhaps Jae Crowder. These suggestions are factoring in how Cleveland would feasibly be able to retain Caris LeVert, regarding Ross/Richardson, in that case, and in the upcoming offseason, both Ross or Richardson could be realistic candidates to re-sign.
